Every universal joint should be checked on a monthly basis.  Failures like the three shown above all happened within 30 days time. 

Catastrophic failures were prevented in each of the cases above - the thermal imaging provided the operators the information they needed to make a timely, cost saving & literally, machine saving decision to suspend production.  

Don't be fooled into thinking that any IR camera can take pictures like these!  Most IR cameras on the market can't handle freezing a rotating U-Joint... they often provide a blurry mess with inaccurate temperatures.  Our experience has proven time and again, even amongst 60hz imagers, not all supposed high speed cameras process the images the same.
